Project
Mining effluents monitoring in the Lausitz Region, Germany.

Challenge
The site is polluted with significant Sulfate and Iron levels that frequently color the river brown-ochre. For this reason, sulfate control by the customer in this area is required as a cross-state management principle.
Approach
Real-time measurements of Sulfate using Watergenics sensor technology.

Installation
ABAIA, our proprietary sensor technology, was placed at a depth of about 2 m, approximately 20 cm above the ground. The probe is equipped with a self-cleaning system that uses water from the environment in which the measurement is conducted. The enclosure is designed to be non-corrosive, capable of withstanding all weather conditions. With these features, ABAIA is a low-maintenance device that has been used with minimal supervision at the site during the project period.
Result
As a conclusion of the project, it can be highlighted that the Watergenics sensor closely follows the customer’s robust conductivity data in terms of its data pattern. Watergenics was moreover able to represent the realistic Sulfate pollution in the monitored area.
