Senior Grant Officer (m/f/d)

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Grant Officer to lead our grant acquisition strategy and support the growth of our water analytics platform. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, coordinating applications, and ensuring compliance throughout project lifecycles. You’ll work closely with the executive team and cross-functional experts to help Watergenics secure public and private grants that drive innovation and sustainability.

Job Overview We are seeking a Senior Grant Officer to set, apply, and supervise the grant application strategy at Watergenics and its subsidiaries. The successful candidate will work closely with the executive team, technical leads, and partner organizations to identify suitable funding opportunities, prepare competitive applications, and ensure the strategic alignment of all grant efforts across the Watergenics Group. Your Responsibilities - Develop and oversee the grant acquisition strategy for Watergenics GmbH and its subsidiaries. - Monitor and assess funding opportunities from the EU (e.g., Horizon Europe, EIC), national (e.g., BMWK, ZIM), and international sources. - Lead and coordinate the preparation, writing, and submission of grant proposals in collaboration with cross-functional teams. - Ensure compliance with grant requirements and maintain proper documentation throughout project lifecycles. - Manage timelines and submissions, and liaise with program officers and consortium partners. - Build and maintain a grant pipeline aligned with company goals and innovation milestones. - Contribute to strategic planning for funding diversification and scaling impact. Required Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of experience in grant writing, acquisition, or project coordination in a technical or innovation-driven field. - Proven success in securing and managing EU and national grants (e.g., EIC Accelerator, Horizon Europe, ZIM, LIFE, Interreg). - Exceptional communication and writing skills in English, German, and Spanish (C2 level or native). - Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. - Familiarity with innovation ecosystems, R&D programs, and sustainability-driven projects. - Based in Berlin or willing to relocate (relocation support available). Nice to Have - Experience in water technologies, cleantech, or environmental innovation. - Understanding of financial reporting and post-award grant management. - Previous collaboration with research institutions, SMEs, or consortium partners. Your Profile - At least 4 years of experience in business development or sales in B2B sectors such as sensors, lab equipment, environmental analytics, or industrial solutions. - A degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field. - Advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA, MSc) or industry certifications are a plus. - Experience in water monitoring, or analytical chemistry is highly desirable. - Expertise in one or more target markets (e.g., Mining, Oil & Gas) is a strong advantage. - Preferentially you have worked with in-situ spectroscopy methods for environmental chemistry - Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities. - Motivated to collaborate within interdisciplinary projects spanning all over the world. - Excellent communication skills to manage relations with partners - Methodical, accurate and organized - Highly motivated and self-driven - Passionate about natural ecosystems and their restoration - Fluent spoken and written English & German. Your Role: As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of our mission. Refine the design of our connected, real-time water quality sensor kit and develop, test, and deploy embedded software. Conduct electrical assembly and test of sensor kits, establish test strategies, and support production. Maintain and support the products with customers and iterate on product requirements based on feedback from our partners. Your Profile: - Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus. - Ideally 5+ years of working experience in the field. Your Responsibilities Assemble and integrate electronic components into sensor devices. Manufacture mechanical components (drilling, sawing, filing, threading, etc.). Conduct electrical assembly and testing of sensor kits, circuit boards, and sensor boxes. Assist in maintaining and creating technical documentation. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware assembly. Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers regarding components and production. Ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications. Your Profile Background in Mechatronics or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, wiring, and circuit board soldering. Strong technical and manual skills (e.g., using drills, saws, and other hand tools). Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Autodesk) and 3D printing is a plus. Understanding technical schematics.
